Self-Publication: Ode To Flutgraben
Ode aan Flutgraben is a small format self-published publication in an edition of 300. During my artist in residence in Berlin (a period of 6 months 2009-2010) I collected stories and photos from the archives about the place / building 'Am Flutgraben' .
What made the place and the building special is that it was right on the borderline of east and west Berlin. The river De Spree formed that border.
I explored the 'genius loci' by digging into the archives and collecting photos and stories. In addition, photographed all visible and invisible traces that could be found. I wrote fictitious letters to the imaginary character 'Flutgraben', resulting in a poetic, reflective text that forms the basis for the publication.
